Hi!
We prepare our migation from Goldmine 5.5 to MCRM 2011 and has you can imagine, between our >10 year old CRM and MCRM 2011, things have evolved:
In Goldmine, they are "entities", and custon fields that I don't know where they belong to in MCRM, if I have to create new entities, fields, or if I missed up an existing entity:
Here are the points:
Custom Fields (in GM)
1- MARKET 1 & 2 (main activities of the contact/account)
2- SEGMENT 1 & 2 (what the contact is doing in a technical way, not his job title)
i.e: a contact can have 4 entries, market 1, market 2, segment 1, segment 2.
For this 4 custom fields, we are also looking to use them in a way that will provide us the ability to have an overview of Accounts and Contacts (but mostly contacts) belonging to this "markets & segments" so we will be able to sectorize them for cibling purpose.
3- Interest 1 & 2 (related to the contact, what kind of assets he is especially susceptible of being interested with, assets that could be interesting for him). It is a list in GM, I think for this point, I just have to create a new field in the contact entity.
Big part regarding activities in GoldMine:
Activities in GoldMine are scheduled into a calendar, they can be related to a contact, but also strictly regarding a GoldMine user.
4- What was told to me is that i.e. personal events regarding a GM user have to migrate to the MCRM user's calendar but I don't see how it is possible because this are not appointments or scheduled meetings, things you do in MCRM calendar (or?). In fact, I fear I will also have to do the same for other GM activities.
Also, it appears to me that it is a non-sense by the way CRM has to be used by keeping in mind it is a collaborative solution, a place where people have to work toghether. Or maybe, their is something in MCRM that is already doing that or I misunderstood what I read.
And so on,
5. Activity "Others",
6. Activity "Unknow"
7. Activity "Private"
Other points
8. "Linked documents" in GoldMine are files related to a contact, including e-mail attachments, but not only, for example, internal documents shared with other GM users.
9. "Groups": it is a way to regroup contacts that share a same "thing", a way to sort them has you want, like a filter, but saved and that after, you can add/remove this contact or company to the group you want (location, activity, assets)
Thank you !
Sebastien
