CRM 4.0 Help with replacing assocatiation of record in 1:N Relationship.

We have a 1:N relationship between Accounts and Equipment.  Let's say Equipment A is tied to Account A.  Our users want to be able to add Equipment A to Account B from within the Account form on the Equipment associated view and have it automatically remove Equipment A from Account A.  Currently since it is a 1:N relationship, when a user goes to add Equipment A to Account B, it gives an error.

I know that we can go straight to the Equipment A form and edit the lookup records there but we don't want our users to have to leave the Account entity.

Is there any workaround to make this happen?

I see within the Lookup Dialog (LookupMulti.aspx) there is a properties button so that you can select a record, click the properties button, and it will show the read only form.  Is it possible to make it so it isn't read only and we are able to edit the records from there?   Otherwise, can we add a custom button to the Lookup Dialog which when a record is selected will allow us to edit?  What about adding a custom button to the associated view which would allow us to look for an Equipment record and edit it?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
