Categorization of Prospects/Converting Accounts/Contacts back to Leads/Pulling Field Information to Different Record

Hi,

I recently joined a company that uses CRM 2011 and I think their is some miscategorization/issues.

1) Prospects (synonymous with Leads in this company) are listed in two distinct fields (Relationship Type and Category) in two distinct Records (Contacts and Accounts).  In Accounts, Prospects are under Relationship Type, and in Contacts, Prospects are listed under Category.  Aside from this confusing me, should they be categorized in the same field (either use relationship type or category or should they be categorized in those distinct fields? WHy should a Contact or Account Record have Prospect in a field if this already had to be qualified to become a Contact or Account Record?

2) More importantly and for my immediate purposes:)  Leads (Prospects) that were not qualified were entered as an Account or Contact Record with the notation of Prospect either under Category or Relationship Type as mentioned above.

Can I revert them back to Leads?? I exported all Prospects to excel, if I upload them as Leads will have duplicate records?

3)Is the account or contact the connector? For instance, there are Contact Records that do not have the website information (field is there) but the Account Record of same person has the website. How can I pull website from Contact to ACcount Record?

Thank you so much!!!
