Error with Offline Mode - Dynamics CRM Outlook Plugin

Hi all,

One of the users on our system has recently installed in the Outlook plugin for CRM Online 2015 and they receive this error when trying to go offline:

“Offline functionality is not supported by this earlier version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook and this Microsoft Dynamics CRM organisation 7.0.1.228. Download a compatible Outlook Client version.”

Now they don't have the CRM 2015 Outlook plugin installed, but the 2013 version.  Now this seems like the likely cause of the issue.  However it was Microsoft themselves that advised us to install the 2013 version as it wouldn't even connect to CRM with the 2015 version of the plugin.

Has anyone seen this issue before?  Are there known issues with the 2015 version of the plugin?
