Opening Activities in a new window

Out-of-the-box, MS Dynamics 2013 does not open new Activities in a new window. Is anyone aware whether this is a future enhancement MS is looking at or if there is an effective workaround to enable users to select an Activity and have it open the form in a new window, like it does for the Quick Phone Call or Quick Task Activities?
