I take usability seriously and I've just been tortured with one of the worst user experiences ever.
I've been trying to use Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online with my live account using Windows 8 & IE 10. I've tried several computers, browser modes & compatibility mode.
The freaking thing is crashing randomly all over the place and some of the menus change their their dimensions over time (really freaky JS bug stuff).
But the crashing, wow. You need to have quite "interesting" JS to create bugs like this.
When the thing crashes, it opens the an error popup. After that, whatever link or button you press, it opens a new one. Alt+F4 does the same. Reminds me of the popular JS "viruses" back in the days.
So is it really so that there is no way to use Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online on Windows 8? And please, give user a warning if he/she logins with unsupported browser or block the login totally with gentle notification in order to avoid users to have to deal with this kind of crap.
And with gentle notification I don't mean the error message you are giving now when user tries to login with e.g. Chrome or Firefox.
Chrome
Firefox
For Firefox you display some mobile login from the nineties? What? Spending an hour to tune up the CSS could be a nice idea. It is 2012 for God's sake.
And of cource, after login you get the same error message as with Chrome.
I'm not used to this kind of negligence when it comes to UX. These issues should be fixed immediately. Users might not have the systems requirements list at hand where they can check that Windows 8 is not supported and neither is IE10. And even if they do, they might think that all features might not be supported, but at least most basic stuff should work. This isn't the case with Dynamics Online. The login should be blocked when user doesn't have supported browser as the user experience is nothing short from a catastrophe.
PS. Tried the CRM plugin with Outlook 2013, and it didn't have any less bugs. Granted that it is not officially supported either.
