Technique / tools for verifying merge of solutions

Hi all,

When importing an unmanged solution over the top of another, where the same entities are changed, the changes are merged, new content is added, and in the case of conflicts the latter imported solution wins.

If you do this, what strategies do you use in order to verify the result? Are there any useful tools?
