Where to start - really?

Hi, I am not a newbie to development but am to CRM 2011. I have used older SOAP calls on CRM 4.0 but not the new WCF.

I want to create a Windows 8 App simply showing the "Whats New" feed from my CRM 2011.

Where would I start and what SDK's would I need. I oboviusly have a 2008 Standard Dev environment installed but needs some pointers to get me started.

Any good Starting blogs out there and especially love some code examples for the Whats New feed.

I know we are all busy but would loke some feedback.
