Alternate Keys on Standard Entities

I am porting a data sync batch to the latest SDK and I really want to use the new alternate keys functionality.

However, I noticed that some fields like ordernumber in Sales Order and isocurrencycode in Currency cannot be used to define Alternate Keys.

How am I supposed to use these fields? Are they already internally used as alternate keys somewhere?
