Save & New phone call behaviour

Hello

I have a question regarding the correct behaviour when creating a new phone call within a Dynamics CRM 2011 contact form.

Let's assume I am opening the contact form of Smith from company whatever. Looking to "Notes & Activities" of this contact I see a planned phone call. I am bout to handle this call, I open the call which has set my Mr. Smith as Recipient and his phone number entered accordingly. I talk to Smith and we agree to call him next week again ( a very common usecase I would say). After the call is finished, I set duration 15 Min etc... Then, again a very common usecase, I say "Save & New", but unfortunatelly neither my contact as a recipient nor his phone number is pre-filled in. This is very un-handy. When I am dealing with a certain contact I am expecting these fields to be pre-filled.

More than that, if I set up a new phone call and choose Save & New when I am done, the contacts name is pre-filled in the new call's subject, not th ephone number, but at least the contact name. But this is only true when I am creating a new call via save & new from a previously virgin created new call, opening an existing call from my list and choosing save & new dos not bring up the contact name in subject for the new to be set up call.

This behaviour is very annoying to us, also we consider the behaviour expected (actually to have pre-filled some details form data of the contact when I am creating some task from within this contacts form) as very basic for any CRM. It's all fine re. the deiscribed if a chose to add a new acitvity for this contact from scratch, but the menu save & new sounds perfectly fitting to me when it comes to the task of setting up a follow-up call ....

Is this considered to be woring as designed, or a bug or something we are approaching incorectly? Somebody told me this Save & New is working as expected since when choosing Save & NEW one isn't neccessarily intending to set up a new call for the same contact. But hey, when I have opened a form of a contact with his calls, and decide to Save & New, this is more than appropiate that I am thinking of creating a follow-up call FOLLOWING this call, and not wanting to create a completely different call.

Regards,

Dieter
