Workflow Wonder re: Email Event

I created a new workflow that would trigger an email to be sent if a certain link was clicked. However, even after multiple tries of applying the workflow to the email event, I haven't seen what I was hoping to see. 

I feel like the problem has to do with the dynamic values not allowing me to enter a CONTACT<CONTACT<EMAIL and just allows me to do this:

(see attached).

SO, I am not receiving any emails (in this case it's a test and I received the email and clicked on the link).

What is the issue here? Why am I not receiving the email follow-up?
