Option Set values

Hi All,

Is it possible to update a option set value from a text field using JavaScript or workflows?

There is an import process happening which updates a field through scribe (within scribe i have not seen a possibility to insert a new value into the option set)

The value within this text field needs to be updated into an option set?

Is this possible?
