CRM solution's patching: "The Entity entity or component has attempted to transition from an invalid state"

Hello Experts,

I’ve tried to use new solution's „patching” functionally with Dynamics CRM 2016.

Inside development environment (on-line version) I’ve created unmanaged solution, named “Test” containing Contact entity. I’ve successfully exported and re-imported this solution into Test environment (also on-line). Next, I’ve created patch to the previously mentioned “Test” solution in the development environment. This path contains only 1 attribute from the Contact entity with changed field’s length. I’ve published all the customizations and exported patch (named “Test_Patch_5d6f1100_1_0_1_0”). However, during importing patch into destination environment (where “Test” solution was already published) following exception has occurred:

The Entity (Id=608861bc-50a4-4c5f-a02c-21fe1943e2cf) entity or component has attempted to transition from an invalid state: ComponentStateName: SystemActive; ComponentOperation: Update; ComponentSolutionType: Active; SolutionOperationContext: Patch; IsProtected: False; IsBeingPublished: True.

Am I doing something wrong? I’ve met the same error in the on-premise’s environments before. Does anyone know what is going on?

Any help will be really appreciated. Right now we’re discussing using “patches” mechanism as our project’s deployment model but unfortunately from our perspective it simple does not work L.
