I would like to get your opinion about the email tracking capabilities on Dynamics CRM 2011.
In a basic installation, we would configure E-mail router to use any SMTP server and do all the marketing mass mailings. However, I can't seem to find any efficient way of tracking the e-mail activity. For example Mails correctly delivered, mails Sent, mails deleted, etc.
I've seen a few online services like Exacttarget or ClickDimensions, which fully integrate with Dynamics CRM and offer all this functionality. The problem is that oyu have to pay a monthly price for the service. This services also seem to have a much better template editor.
I wonder how a product like Dynamics CRM used by so many big companies doesn't have a better HTML editor and email tracking capabilities.
What options do we have in order to track email activity on a fully on-premise installation? Is there any comercial or free add on to include tracking?
What tools would be required to develop the trackign functionality?
