Hi CRM group! Sorry for the long banter but I had to get it off my chest.
Are there people here who use Dynamics CRM Android app? Please comment on your experience with it.
Here's from my side. I use this app from Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.crm.crmphone (seems to be the correct one to use).
In my case the app is extremely time consuming to launch. Like about 3 minutes to launch. I don't know what rocket science the app does in the background but it keeps switching between two loading screens, it is seemingly downloading something, updating the info or something similar. It is just unbelievable.
- There are only a few hundred records in CRM at the moment. So number of records can't be the reason.
- The device is Nexus 6p which is like top of the line device in market at the moment. So it's definitely not device's fault. Any app I throw at this device launches in seconds.
- Yes the CRM instance is customized but it's nothing too special, just some fields and forms. And it's not that every time I launch the app there would be numerous new customizations to be downloaded to mobile. So this also can't be the reason.
- The CRM instance and Android app are both updated to the latest versions possible. I've disabled every imaginable battery/process/doze optimizations for this CRM app on my mobile. So some special Android features also couldn't be the reason.
I really can't comprehend what is being done (downloaded?) there for several minutes every time. On my data connections I can get a movie downloaded in the same time while Microsoft CRM app opens. Fresh data update from CRM should be some kBs, nothing more.
It's like Microsoft haven't even tried to make the app usable. Why then make such app at all. Or I'm missing some important part. It's so dumb to stare 3 minutes at the Dynamics CRM Android app splash screen every time a task or phone Nr. has to be added to CRM. The app is kinda for sales, not some retirement groups :)
I'll not even start to talk about the 'special' interface that's there. Comparatively the interface and navigation is peanuts. I'd just like to have an app that opens.
Once it opens though, it works fine.
Anyone else? Please let me know how it works for you, if I'm not the only one :)
