The roadmap for Orion is not very far away, which as described Jukka Niiranen in his blog, paints a very dull picture for the future of Microsoft CRM especially for SMEs and Contractors, and I would imagine for every On-Premise customers. Classic forms will soon be phased out, the ribbon menu is getting phased out and text will be used instead, it's not clear whether OnLoad and OnChange events can be handled by JScript, especially considering the new Process Forms - what this essentially means is that all the work done on CRM 2011, pre-Orion will have to be done again. It was a pain to migrate to Polaris and I can see the same happening again. This means more work, more training, higher TCO and ROI.
I'm wondering what other people have in the pipeline - organisations still developing CRM need to think radically and make changes now that comply with future releases. So this probably means staying away from everything unsupported and Marketplace solutions for a while. So what's the best way to get ready for Orion?
