Seting Activities to "All Activities" by default

I am in a trial of CRM 2012, I believe it is called "Polaris" as opposed to "Classic".

If I click on Activities under the Common section of the left Navigation for a Contact, Account, Opportunity, etc, how can I make the resulting grid show up as "All Activities" by default?

It seems to default to "Open Activity Associated View" every time.

Also, how can I set the "Filter on" to "All"?
