Can we call http from https crm implementation

I have crm on-prem implemented, but there is a requirement where I need to consume a http webservice, but when I am trying to call it I am getting. Access denied error. but when I am calling the same service from a normal html page, it works fine.

So I there a restriction where we need to call only https url from an https crm implementation?
