Create a company with the contact detail

I'm trying to create a contact along with its company detail. There is a node for company in the contact API but the detail is not reflected in the UI. Whereas when I created a contact with its company details, it can be fetched from the accounts API. 

How can I create a contact with its company detail using the contact API?
