Update opportunity sales phase metadata

Hello good afternoon.

I would like to be able to update the items of the Sales Phase PickList (Opportunity), using coding.

I have been testing this way by coding because natively the items of the picklist (Sales Phase) do not let me modify the names.

I tried modifying by sqlserver but I only achieved this (Image 01), but when I see it in my opportunity form I don't see any changes (Image 02), that's why I plan to do it by programming.

Will you know another way to change the name of those items in the pickList?
