I'm new to Dynamics 365 Apps and I try to understand the "purpose" or usage of the ID field in the Sitemap Designer.
I saw that Area/Group/Subarea components have each one an ID field, and as Microsoft documents states it is an unique value and "auto generated".
But I saw many tutorials, including Microsoft's that will manually change them despite it's own recommendation:
We recommend that you use the provided ID because if the ID you enter is not unique, users might get an error when they're using the app, or you might get an error when you import a solution that contains this site map.
So what is the purpose of this field?
Would be helpful in some other parts of the application and I will need it by its name? I could override some "system IDs" like one presented in Default SiteMap XML like SFA, Customers, nav_conts with my own information, or to extend some groups/areas?
Or what else could be worth for "manually" change it?
