So I'm in the process of replacing individual user security access to a AD security group team access. So we've setup the AD security groups and created the corresponding teams in Dynamics. I then added appropriate security roles to the team in Dynamics 365 and then removed all individual access.
I did realise there were several security roles that still had to be assigned to a individual for it to work like user dashboards, personal views and notes. So I created a default security role with entities that still needed to be assigned individually to each CRM user and gave it to all users. Anything else will be managed by the security roles given to the team.
I then noticed from users that they weren't able to create contacts. I then checked all the security roles assigned to the team they're in and all of them had the create rights for contacts user to User which would of worked when the security roles were assigned individually to each user. Does the User right no longer work if the security role is given to a team instead of a user?
I then added a security role with create set to Business unit and it now works..
