I building a test install of CRM 2011 and I've ran into a odd problem early in the install process.
All server are fresh installs on windows 2008 r2, with all current patches and updates.
Backend is SQL 2008 r2 SP1, server name is LASSQLIT08.
First CRM server is 2011 with Rollup 12 applied, it has all CRM roles installed Frontend, Backend and Deployment, server name is LASCRMIT02
This install works fine and a copy of our production CRM organization was imported with no issues.
Then I wanted to build a second CRM server with only the frontend components. So I built a new server 2008 r2 all the patches and such..
This is where it got wierd:
When I try to install CRM 2011 on it. If I select "Create a new deployment" the server will complete all the System checks no problem.
BUT If i select "Connect to, and if necessary, upgrade an existing deployment" on the "Specify Deployment Options" Page... Then when I get to the "Systems Checks" Page the install fails with the following error:
"The product key is not compatible with the installed version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM"
Not sure if this is related to Rollup 12 and the changes to the database. Does anyone know of a way around this error?
