Hi all,
If anyone can help here at all, I would be very grateful.
I have recently carried out a network rebuild for a client, and this includes migrating their CRM database (MS Dynamics 2011) from old server/domain to new server/domain.
Both old and new were running on SQL 2008 (although the new server is R2 now) on Windows 2008 (again, new is R2). I read various articles on the migration process, and it seemed to go fine. However, when anyone now logs in to the database, the data is viewable no problem - but when they try to edit anything (a person, org etc) and click SAVE - we get the generic "SQL Error" pop up.
The migration process I took was to install SQL, install Dynamics (using dedicated service account), generated a dummy organisation. I then restored the old orgname_MSCRM database in place of the newly created database, ran "import org" from Deployment Manager, mapped the users and all completed without errors.
I have checked the event logs on the SQL/CRM server and I cannot see any errors that might be linked to this problem.
Additionally, whilst logged in as a System Administrator, I am able to change role membershp and save without the error - so it doesn't seem like a full block on saving anythng to the database.
If anyone can point me in the right place, or advice I would be very grateful. I have spent a good few hours searching the web for solutions, but so far not found anything similar.
Apologies if I have left any important info out.
many thanks
Tony
