What is this marketing pilot

Hello,

I have seen in a video on this site talking about marketing pilot in CRM Online, is it an extra tool to install or plug in to activate?

While exploring the video I have seen that with it you have ready template to build news documents to be send for marketing.

Today we are builing our news document in words and convert to PDF and then attached to email, which is a rough process sometimes. is there a way to do that directly in CRm by building easily HTML news forms for instance?

Attachment file name change to include full path when receiving reply to mail merge.

Hi there,

I am facing a strange issue where a mail merge is sent from MS CRM 2011. An attachment (PDF) is included with the mail merge. The attachment has a simple file name e.g. 'report 2013.pdf'.

A reply was received to this e-mail (it was actually forwarded on to the original sender to be precise), and the conversation was tracked in CRM. The reply contained the original attachment with a strange difference: the attachment file name had been changed to include the full path containing back slashes and white space replaced by underscores e.g.

__network home drive_some_sub_folder_report 2013.pdf

It is important to note that this is the path of the file on the originating file system (i.e. where the e-mail was first created using mail merge).

Anyone any idea what is going on here?

Thanks

Martijn

Dynamics CRM 2013 Date Picker issue - Windows 2008 R2 SP1/IE8

I'm running Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Fall '13 (6.0.1.462) over Internet Explorer 8 in Windows 2008 R2 SP1. When I attempt to use the Date Picker control in the "Advanced Find" function, I'm unable to choose the date.  I can enter a date manually, however.

Note that I've been able to reproduce the problem using Compatibility Mode, and in both x86 and x64 versions of IE.  I've also downloaded and registered the MS common ActiveX controls (mscomct2.ocx, MSCOMCTL.OCX) in both \System32 and \SysWOW64.  I'm unable to reproduce the issue in Google Chrome.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. From the Dynamics CRM home page, select "Advanced Find"
  2. From the "Saved View" drop-down list, select a report with a date field (e.g., "Account Report Action Items").
  3. Select the date period drop-down list (default is set to "Last X Days") and select "On."
  4. Select the calendar drop-down next to "Choose Date."

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Service Activities in tablets

In CRM 2013 one of the limitations for tablets is the Service Activities and the service calendar. Does anybody know another app or enhanced app or workaround to be able to see service activities and service calendar in iPad tablets?

Thanks in advance.

Using "Track in CRM" function in Outlook

Hello,

I am using Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Office 365 package. I have numerous different contacts in Outlook I would like to import to CRM, but when I try using the "Track in CRM" button in Outlook, i get the following message:

Tracked records will be synchronized when the primary owner's Outlook mailbox connects to Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

This is strange, because the contacts are created by me and I have no idea who the primary owner is if not me. I also tried importing the contacts using the wizard, but for some reason none of my contacts show up in the list when choosing the contact folder.. The Track in CRM function would be a really easy way to import contacts in the future aswell if only I was able to get it to work properly. Any solutions to this?

Case Creation: Business Process Error - TimeTrackingCacheLoader

$

I have a single default SLA set up on our on-premise organization. when i do not associate business hours with the SLA my new cases are created and the relevant SLA timers are populated. When I add a simple 0800-1800 business hours schedule i get a Business Process Error with a message TimeTrackingCacheLoader encountered some errors{0}, see log for more detail. I've set up an identical SLA on an online instance and do not get the error. I'm assuming the issue is the calendar but cannot see why it is working online but not for the on-premise. Has anyone encountered this?

Track number of hours spend on a customer project

Hello,

After submitting a quote to a customer from CRM online, when customer response is positive then we can start working on his project and for that we validate the Quote as Won, which then create a customer Order reference with which we can settle different task to be done for the project.
In our business we are building software and on current customer order we need to track the number of hours spend on the project by each people working on it.

To do that actually we are using an Excell sheet that each developer working on the project fill up weekly. Which is not the best solution as it is not directly linke to customer order in CRm.

I was wondering if there is a way to do such thing in the sense that from customer Order we can fill up a date, developer name, number of hours spend ?

At the end we can then compare the payed hours with real working one.

Thanks for advise

SQL Trigger behavior on CRM 2011

Hi,

I'm a CRM newbie (but a veteran DBA) and I've gone through the forum and saw time and time again the advice not to use triggers on CRM.

I can understand the logic behind this, but - is there a way to implement a trigger on a base table without getting an annoying CRM application error ?

If not, what solution would you recommend on implementing a trace (to a trace table) updates in such entities as ContactExtensionBase ?

How to run a real-time workflow manually?

I read a lot of articles on "real-time" workflows. But non-of them tells me how to manually trigger the real-time workflow.

Right now I have a real-time workflow that is triggered after a field is changed or a record is created.

But I just want to fire this workflow without changing anything.

Thank you1

Sending email from within Excel or other programs does not allow tracking in CRM

When any of our users try to email directly from within Excel, Word or any other program that brings up an email window that email window does not have any of the CRM buttons?  The same thing is true if you just right click on a file on your desktop and choose "Send to mail recipient".

This requires a very cumbersome work-around when we want to send a quote to a customer from within the program that created the quote or when or collections department wants to email invoices or aging reports that were generated in other programs.

Does anyone know of a "switch" that we need to set to enable this tracking feature?  We are using a hosted version of CRM during an evaluation phase - could that have something to do with it?  Our email goes through our own exchange server.

Thanks in advance for any thougths on the subject.

CRM tracking private emails

$

Still running into this issue where CRM is tracking emails that have no relationship to any record in CRM. I have turned off correlation completely in System Settings and unchecked all options in the users email configuration. The only thing that is left is the Email section under the CRM/Outlook options which states 'Select the email messages to track in Microsoft Dynamics CRM' of which I have chosen 'Track: Email messages in response to CRM email' as this would seem like the most innocuous. Additionally, this option does not seem to be allowed to be disabled. This is very dangerous as highly sensitive internal emails could be visible to all members of the organization. Emails should only be able to be tracked manually.

This may affect our decision to retain Dynamics as our CRM solution.
