Mail Merge Shutting down abruptly

I am having issues with Microsoft Word shutting down abruptly while constructing quotes using the mail merge function.  This happens when I try to save a file and the only common denominator with all files and templates is CRM’s involvement.  This does not happen when I am simply using Word for a function not involving CRM.

Any help?
