i would like to connect to crmServer and SSO from a custom website link,

when access to crmServer always display the windows authentication window,

Basing a security model on 'sales region' [please]

Hello,

We have something like 8000 companies & 20 000 contacts that I migrated from a >10 year old CRM solution.

So, I was asked, 3 days ago (have to be operational for monday) to give ownership of Accounts to teams that have for names: 'sales region' like 'US' 'Europe' - did it by creating teams with those names and gave Account ownership for each one to those US, UK, teams by mapping 'sales region' from old CRM.

Now, I am totally lost: teams depends from BUs & into security roles, you cannot set the access level to teams. Creating business units for 'sales region' appears also for myself not to be the path it should be. They think, if Account ownership is given to teams, you only have to put people into those teams, so they only can see accounts belonging to each of them (I have also a lack of knowledges so maybe they are right & I missed a point).

I tested, you see anyway not what should be: how to build the security model so that users belonging to 'sales region' teams will only see Accounts with account ownership set on teams from their interface?

 

And the part I am completely, entirely lost with:

- we have 'real' teams likes 'production', 'administration', I mean, by team, people that will work toghether has it should be into a team...

- after that, now that I made those teams with the name of 'sales region' we had into our last solution...

- they want to be able to put someone from another team into the teams I created so the user will be able to see accounts&contacts belonging to this teams only

- another non-sense: teams based on sales territories will contain max 2 users...

- anyway, most of users from other 'real' teams will need to see all contacts & accounts & they think you just have to put a user belonging to another team into the 'UK' team so he will see 'UK' accounts...

The main issue I see into the future: how to dispatch 'properly' accounts & contacts to users? Going by this way, they will see hundreds of 'my active contacts' & 'my active' accounts when they will effectively work on maybe 50 of them.

I have to do like this because it was decided like this... to have the same has we had into our archeological CRM solution.

Final question: I read all the documentation I found about BUs, Teams, Security roles & my great fear is that when everybody will use it, the base system will already be crappy and I will always have to modify, create, for each user specific access level and find workarounds.

Could give more détails but my message will be to long: what I think is that we are going into a wall

 

Please help! I have to do everything alone (never had a training or knowledges of business handling process, and so on).

Hello,

on both of our CRM 2011 RU12 - sharing SQL 2012 db - 2 MSCRMTracing events show up at the AsyncService start.

Event 17204: CrmTrace encountered an error. Additional Info:Error in LoadDeploymentSettings [LocatorService.Instance], [...]

Then we have multiple events 20226 from MSCRMSandboxClient

The description for Event ID 20226 from source MSCRMSandboxClient cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. [...]

Result is that requests to display reports will time out and never reach reporting services, and reporting window will stay blank after a 20-30 seconds timeout.

When one of the two CRM front-ends is shut down, requests are always transmitted to Reporting Services and reports rendered.

All other CRM functions are OK.

How can we troubleshoot Error in LoadDeploymentSettings [LocatorService.Instance] ?

What does that ervent 20226 mean?

Auto Populate Multi-line text field from tickbox selections

Hi, I need to populate a text box with specific paragraphs of text when one or more tickbox's are selected.  For example, we have 6 tickbox's that relate to a 'refusal reason' for why we refuse an application.

When a tickbox is ticked (value = true), we would like the related text to be populated into a selected text box (for mail merge).  If more than one tickbox is selected, then the text from ALL the selected tickbox's need to be shown in the text box.  ie; we don't want the second selection to overwrite the first selection.

Example, if tickbox's 1, 3 and 6 are selected, then the text box would need to show the below (or similar).

Idealy, this text would come from a separate entity that the user could modify but is not essential (could be in the Jscript).  Secondly, this information has to populate the text box instantly so the user can make changes BEFORE saving the record (as this then fires a workflow that requires this text box to be populated).

Can anyone assist?

Error in IE while running a report: No such interface supported

Hello,

While I am running a report with a drop down parameter, I come across the following error message:

This happens with IE. I get this error message as soon as I click a parameter drop down that has multiple selections. 

I have debugged the code and it throws the error at this line:

could anyone tell me what's the case that Xrm.Page.ui.getFormType()=5(Quick Create)

i guess it's when you create record from lookup dialog. But in fact not. i got formtype value = 1 in that case.

how can i know it is from usual create or from a lookup dialog create on page onload.

Sharepoint integration issues after CRM Rollup 12

We installed Rollup 12 (on-prem) and updated our Outlook 2010 clients yesterday. Now we cannot access the documents folder when in an account in CRM (using the Outlook 2010 plugin). We updated the list component in Sharepoint per this article:

support.microsoft.com/.../2810528

We still get js errors in Outlook. In IE we can access the documents but the navigation bar (Up folder, new, Add, Open Sharepoint, Actions) doesn't work at all.

I've also updated Sharepoint (2010) with the latest updates.

Any help would be appreciated.

Problems with trial of CRM 2011 Online (Can't create an account)

Hi Guys,

I have installed a trial version of CRM 2011 for plugin development testing prior to going on a plugin development course for work.

I tried creating a simple plugin as shown at the following link. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg594416.aspx

After registering the plugin and adding the step in the plugin registration tool I always get an error when trying to create an account in the CRM user interface:

Now after a while of this occurring whatever tutorial I tried. I decided to try removing my plugin and just adding an account at which point I got the same error.

So basically I can't add an account to my trial of CRM...

Any Ideas why I can add an account?

How can I test things if the trial system doesn't work?

Font style is changing in CRM 2011 SSRS report

I have created one report using SSRS 2008 and deployed it to CRM 2011(On-premise). When I run this report from Visual Studio 2010, it works fine as per the font style used(Trebuchet MS). But when I run the same report from CRM, the font is getting changed to 'Times New Roman'. And I checked, 'Trebuchet MS' is installed in server. Or do I need to install this font in CRM? If so, how can I install that?

Below is the image which shows the same report running in (A) From Visual Studio and (B) From CRM 2011 but they are with different fonts. Can any one help me to get this report done with Trebuchet MSin CRM?

  

Question regarding workflow - Check Condition

This is what I am trying to do. If email subjects contains any of these words mobile, ipad, iphone etc.. create a case and assign to Team A otherwise create a case and assign to Team B. Can we pass multiple values to Contain in check condition. I can achieve this by checking for each but if there is a way I can put all the values in one If condition that would be better,


CRM 2011 On-premises - Unable to access filtered view with CRM application pool Service account

Hello Everyone,

We are executing some custom SQL stored procedures objects (in a separate database) via CRM plug-ins on Dynamics CRM 2011 on-premises instance. The service account configured on CRM application pool does not able to access data from the CRM filtered views inside stored procedures. We would like to allow particular application pool identity to fetch data from filtered views. Anybody could help me for the same. Is there any other ways to fetch data using CRM application pool identity?

Workflow failing with error

I have a workflow. It fires on create or as a child, and waits 30 days until the Expiration Date on a custom entity called Contact Subscription. At the 30 day mark, a Task is created for the Accounting team to generate an invoice. When the Task is marked complete, it updates the Expiration Date to a year out and restarts itself.

Here is a screenshot of the workflow. Ihave bleeped out the product name. This is 2011 on premise, R9 I think.

Most of the time, this workflow is working. There are several out there for which this process has worked just fine.

However, there are several workflows where it gets stuck on the Timeout condition (you see the spinning circle in the screenshot). These Workflow records contain the following message:

Workflow paused due to error: Unhandled Exception: System.ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added.

  at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.Insert(TKey key, TValue value, Boolean add)

  at Microsoft.Crm.Workflow.ActivityHostBase.OnWorkflowLoaded(WorkflowApplication activityInstance, ICommonWorkflowContext context)

  at Microsoft.Crm.Workflow.ActivityHost.StartWorkflowExecution(Activity workflow, ICommonWorkflowContext context)

  at Microsoft.Crm.Workflow.ActivityHostBase.StartWorkflow(ICommonWorkflowContext context, Activity preLoadedActivity)

Researching this error yields a lot of issues with custom code and the SDK, but there's nothing custom involved here.

Does anyone know this error? Thanks in advance.

Managed Solution import failed - Error code:0x80048425

Hi all,

I'm getting the following error when attempting to import a managed solution from our Dev to Live environment;

"The selected file is corrupted or it does not use the correct schema. Either select another file or modify the file to use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM migration template schema"

From what I can find this error means the input XML does not comply with the XML schema. Where could I look to find out what attributes are causing the problem and what can I do to resolve? I'm using CRM 2011 system based in the Microsoft 365 cloud.

Soap security negotiation failed

Hi all,

I've been struggling pretty much all day trying to get the Simple CRM connection to work with our development environment. It works perfectly on live, but there's something different on the development server and I'm not sure what.

The error I'm getting is:

The application terminated with an error.

SOAP security negotiation with 'dynamicsdev.domain.local/.../Discovery.svc& for target 'dynamicsdev.domain.local/.../Discovery.svc& failed. See inner exception for more details.

I've tried enabling NTLM authentication on IIS under windows authentication which seems to be the biggest cause of this type of issue but that's not worked.

When I run the sample code I get prompted to enter the following:

  • Enter crm server name
  • Is server configured for secure socket layer
  • Enter domain\username
  • Enter password

After this step I'm promoted with a windows dialogue box to enter the username and password again, not sure if that's linked to this problem?

After entering the password here I get the above error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
